Michael A. Register
Director, Division of Regulatory Services
Michael A. Register is director of the Division of Regulatory Services at the St. Johns River Water Management District and has been with the District since 1990.
Register is responsible for directing the District’s permitting programs for Environmental Resource Permits and Consumptive Use Permits implemented by the District’s bureaus of Environmental Resource Regulation, Water Use Regulation and Regulatory Support.
During his tenure with the District, he has worked in environmental resource permitting, consumptive use permitting and records and data management. Outside the District, Register has extensive experience in managing agricultural operations, including commercial cut foliage, cow/calf cattle operations, and hay production.
Register holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Florida. While at the University of Florida, he conducted research on using reduced irrigation rates to freeze protect commercial foliage crops. He is a registered professional engineer in Florida, and is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and the American Water Resources Association.
