Retirement community — City of Palatka
A retirement community in Palatka became the first community in the St. Johns River Water Management District to receive the Florida Water StarSM Community certification during a ceremony March 9, 2012. The Annie M. Spell Senior Community is a new condo-style community that boasts water efficiency inside and outside. Indoors, fixtures and appliances are WaterSense®-labeled. In addition to each individual apartment meeting Florida Water StarSM water efficiency standards, the community's common areas also meet standards through the use of waterwise landscaping and no permanent irrigation.
